Sound devices installed and configured in Windows 7 but volume icon in tray with red cross and saying no speakers or headhpones are plugged in RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello.

I am on Windows 7 and the above problem is happening. Also, when I try to use skype it says that it cannot access the sound card. I have a new HP2560p and I use the internal speakers, iphone headphones plugged into the jack and also a wireless bluetooth headset. The headset is working fine and it recognises that OK. Its when i plug that out I get the error messages.

The devices appear in the device manager: Bluetooth Audio, Speakers/HP, IDT High Definition Audio, Communcations Headphones. However, i cant configure them.

    I've tried following:

Scanning for hardware changes in Sound, Video and Game Option in Device Manager

Uninstalled and reinstalled Updated all the sound drivers

    Still not working...

    Any ideas?

    thanks, AJ

  • can you give a screenshot of the screen that comes up from the following instructions

right click on the speaker in the bottom right by the clock and go to sounds. Then give a screenshot of the playback and recording screens
