hiding an admin account on Welcome screen RRS feed

  • Question

  • When installing WinXP Pro, I created an admin account (other than THE "Administrator" account).  I think this is mandatory- the first user created is an admin.  (And I think that lots of security topics suggest doing so AND disabling the Administrator and Guest accounts.)  I didn't create a limited user account at that time, knowing that Steady State would want me to do that later.

So, how do I hide my admin account from the Welcome screen after I've disabled the Administrator account?  Steady State has a general policy to hide the "Administrator" account, but not the admin account I created.  Shared Computer Toolkit did hide my admin account.

    Thanks,

    Registry Keys located at :

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList]

Add an entry for the user you want to hide with a Dword value of 0.
