Empty Citrix Deployment group RRS feed

  • Question

  • Under authoring I only see one group with Citrix in the name, 'Citrix Deployment' and it has no members.  I can't open the properties, I get "The group can not be modified because there is no group population rule defined for this group".  Not very helpful, how am I suppose to define a group population rule if I can't open the properties?

Is there a fix for this?  The Citrix management pack is old, should I delete this group before upgrading the MP?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Please double check your configurations and settings referring to the guide from Citrix:

  • You can't install them both, it will be upgraded. i think you can go to another mp anyway. it will still monitor those servers (check documentation and/or test first). i think i remember the mp had some bugs in that version you are using (some discovery script that was case sensitive for hostname or something, it could also be in a version before the one you are using though).

  • i suppose it's just group with no properties, so this really is an empty group. And because it resides in a sealed mp (assuming this) you'll never be able to add something to this. As far as i can remember you don't need to do something either. Which mp version do you run? 6.0.0.0 is the latest (only available on the xenapp cd's i think).

  • I'm using the XenApp 6.0.0.0 MP and I only have one original group named Citrix and that is an auto created group with the name of our Citrix Organization. It only has one member and that is the discovered farm. I also can't see the properties of the group with the same "error" you receive, but with the difference that this group contains members and I can see the Group State.

Looks like something goes wrong with the discovery of your farm. All your Citrix agents have the "Allow this agent to act as a proxy" option set? Do you see any errors related to disovery?

  • Thanks for the replies.  About half of the Citrix servers had the "allow this agent to act as a proxy" setting, the other half did not.  I enabled it for all of them, still no members in the 'Citrix Deployment' group.

The Citrix management pack is 4.5.0.1, which matches most of the Citrix servers in produciton.  There are a couple XenApp servers being tested but we're not monitoring them yet.

Anyone know if I can install the 6.0.0.0 MP alongside the 4.5 MP, or will that break 4.5 monitoring?  I will look for documentation on the 4.5 MP.
