3 Windows 7 services needed for backup stopped after reboot RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all.

I'm running a third party backup program called Genie Backup Manager Pro 8.0. This software needs 3 Windows 7 services "COM+ System Application", "Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider" & "Volume Shadow Copy" to be running in order for it to backup open files without skipping them. After starting these services and setting their "Startup Type" to automatic I notice that they have stopped again after a reboot. How do I get these services to start everytime my computer boots?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me with this question.

  • Hi Jeff, you can change the registry value to get these services to start every time:

Go to Registry Editor, find the “Start” key of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\COMSysApp

Change the value data to “2”

Note: You should better to back up the registry before you change it.

    Hope it works.
