IE 8 Updating problem RRS feed

    I am on Windows Vista (pre installed on machine 2 years ago) and recently updated to IE 8 (having problems with IE7 "hanging") to hopefully resolve the previous problem.

    Each time I go to close down/hibernate I am prompted to install an update and on each occassion it appears to fail (only realised that when I went and looked at the update log.

    I tried to do an install while still "live" and it failed again with error code 8024200D Windows Update encountered an unkown error.

    Anyone any ideas what might be wrong or will I have to try and uninstall and install?
