Can't add custom columns specific public folder in favorites for specific user in Outlook 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

one specific user has two public folders added to the favorites in Outlook 2013. Both folders have custom columns. These were showing in Outlook (both on local PC (no roaming profile) and on RDS Server), but suddenly the custom columns on one of these folders are no longer showing and can't be readded (permission missing).

The columns are still showing in the standard public folder view but not when accessed via the favorites. Only this user is affected. The permissions were not changed (Editor permission for public folder).

Could this be caused by some type of mailbox corruption? What steps could one take to further advance the troubleshooting.

    Thank you for your help.

  • Hi,

What specific operations did you do before this problem occurred?

    >> The columns are still showing in the standard public folder view but not when accessed via the favorites.

How about removing and readding the specific folder to the Favorites?

To check whether this is a client issue, it is suggested to configure another account(which works normal in other computer) on your Outlook and see if the issue can be reproduced. Or configure your account on another computer and see if there is any difference.

If this is a account issue, it is suggested to remove the user's permission for this folder and re-add it. You can also try removing and re-adding your account on your Outlook.

If this is a client issue, please refer to the suggestions below:

    1. There could be some add-ins in your Outlook client that cause this issue, so it is suggested to start your Outlook in safe mode (Press Win + R, type “outlook /safe”, press Enter.) and see if the issue continues.
    2. A corrupted profile can also cause this issue, please try creating and using a new Outlook profile via Control Panel > Mail > Show profile and see if there is any difference.
    3. If the issue persists, you can also try repairing your Office installation.

    Hope this can be helpful.

  • Hi,

    yes the issue got fixed.

This was in fact not user specific, this user was just the only one user of that folder. It also happened with a test user dummy account.

After adding the costum column as folder owner for once the column appeared for the users to add.

    Thank you for your support.

    Regards
