Answers

  • The following error occurred attempting to joing the domain 'uoa':

An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target domain. For information about network troubleshooting, see Windows Help.

So this is a DNS issue. Your client seems to not able to reach domain controller and can not resolve the DNS name of your domain. Check IP address of DNS server and verify you can resolve the name of domain name. Also check if you have routing access to your domain controller.

Depends on the error message. But some common reasons are:

    • Client can not locate domain because of DNS issue. Your clients should be able to ping the domain name and have network availability to the domain controllers.
    • Existing computer account in your AD.
    • No access to join to domain. It basically shows an error indicate that Access Denied. (If you have changed the default setting).
    • User has reached the maximum number of clients he can join to domain. (Default is 10 machines).

It is best to share the error message.
