  • Hi Chad--

That was exactly what I was looking for.   You are seeing problem B- where your application isnt being defined.

You need to add another application for every internal web based site you have.   After you add the application, make sure you uncheck the box that says "Add to Portal Link" so that it doesnt show up on the portal list.

Just because you publish SharePoint doesn't mean that all the internal resources under it will also be published.

    Thank you

  • Hi Chad--

My opinon as a web developer thinks that your website is opening in a new window because of how your frame target is specified on the SharePoint site.

The below site teaches you more about frames:
    http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_frames.asp

I'm not sure why when opening in a new window your site is broken, usually its the opposite for .NET appls.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Chad--

UAG is designed to automatically translates internal links as long as they are defined. Given your current configuration, everything that’s "http://testsp.contoso.com" will be replaced with "https://extsp.contoso.com".

Can you please browse to the ""Page Cannot be Displayed" error, right click on IE >> Properties >> Under URL. What does it say?

    A) If it says http://testsp.contoso.com then UAG isn't translating the link properly

    B) If it says something else, then you will need to define that application or your "replace the host header" is improperly configured.

In step #5, change the "replace the host header" setting to testsp.contoso.com.

Please let us know what you see so we can suggest the next steps.

    Thank you

  • Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the suggestions.  I'm testing them out now, and will let you know what I find.

  • Dennis,

First of all I appreciate your help!

    1) On this test sharepoint site I uploaded some test word and excel documents.  UAG did translate them correctly to https://extsp.contoso.com/docs/documents/testchad.docx

    2) On this same test sharepoint site we have links to other internal web based sites; i.e a web based Helpdesk site http://helpdesk/remedy80 .  This link is the one that we get a "Page Cannot Be Displayed".  And it doesn't translate when I look at the URL on the "Page Cannot Be Displayed" it shows http://helpdesk/remedy80

-Dennis, can you please clarify, will these links to other internal web based sites not work off our SharePoint site?

-Will I need to add a new application to the portal specifically for this web based Helpdesk site?

    Thanks,

    Chad

  • Hi Dennis,

That's Great!!!  I went and defined my helpdesk application and now I'm able to access that application link in Sharepoint.

A couple of things I'm still trying to iron out.

    - From I.E browser, if I type in the application address https://helpdesk.contoso.com/remedy80  the site/application opens fine and works.

-From I.E browser, if I go to the portal first click on SharePoint application and access the "Helpdesk" hyperlink.  The "Helpdesk" application opens up correctly in the portal.  However the problem is that the link also opens another browser window for the "Helpdesk" application with this address https://helpdesk.contoso.com/remedy80/aspx/header.aspx.  The thing with this window is that some of the objects of the webpage are missing; i.e. the Helpdesk logon box is missing.

I know I.E. wants to open hyperlinks in a new window by default, but do you know of a way for UAG to keep it from opening that secondary browser window, or if it does open the second browser window why is the page broken?  Is it because of the Header?

    Thanks,

    Chad
