Limiting Internet Access for Certain Users on One PC (Active Directory) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been looking for quite some time, and haven't found a suitable answer... Maybe it's not possible, but here is my last ditch effort; to see if anyone can point me in the right direction:

    Scenario:

Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, Domain Joined PC accessed by two users:
User #1 has admin rights and needs full access when working on this computer.
User #2 has no admin rights and only accesses local and shared documents and the internet.

    Problem:

User #1 wants to have full access to the internet, but limit #2's access to three specific web sites, one is intranet site.

Can this be done? I'm not really concerned whether this is done via GPO, or a local configuration.

EDIT: I was thinking to place the restriction on the computer settings for IE, then have User #1 access the internet using Firefox, and remove #2 access permission to Firefox, forcing User #2 to use IE.

  • Hi,

Windows has a built-in guest account on which you can apply Parental controls to limit web access.

Use GPO to create separate profiles for the Guest account to limit intranet access.

    Regards.
