  • Question

  • When I add a new link on “Trusted My Site Host Locations” in SharePoint 2010, it gets added but not showing in the list.  There is a message below the empty list that states:

"Your search encountered an error. If the problem persists, contact the portal site administrator."

Search seems to be working fine though.

     Any idea(s)?

  • First, make a backup of your Profile database (Profile DB)

Then open said database and delete all the items from SharedListSync database. Presto, Bingo, there you go!

    Hope that helps,

  • Hi Enpa,

Can you post any errors that occur in the logs files to your post?  I know I have seen this before and I believe the logs files point you in the right direction to solve the problem.

  • Hi Guys,

Just encountered the same problem but I was little but hesitant in applying the solution mentioned above as database level modifications are not suported by sharepoint and once you do that even MSFT will not support your environment. However I was able to resolve the issue just by doing the Profile database restore to a point when there was no such error and things were fixed.

I also noticed that this happened because one of my colleague added a duplicate entry under the mysite host location.

    thanks, vinod

  • Fixed it for me too, thanks! PS I just deleted the duplicate entries, not everything.

  • OMG!!!!!! DON'T EVER DELETE THINGS FROM SHAREPOINT DATABASES.  IF YOU DO YOU WILL BE IN AN UNSUPPORTED STATE!!!!!
