Blocking non contacts from being able to send you IM message RRS feed

  • Want to know if it is possible to block non contacts in S4B from sending IM messages but still allowing them to phone ?

    It is not possible to block the users who are not in the contacts from being able to send you IM message for now. Based on my research, there’s no option or command to disable IM feature in SFB Server side. We could only disable the IM feature by using registry key, however, the user can not send IM to all of others with this way. 

    If you want to block the IM feature for a user, you could try to run “reg add HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Lync /v DisableIM /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f” command in CMD.

    Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
