Image a computer with two hard drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • Has anybody sysprep a computer that has more that one hard drive? Drive 0 had the OS on it and the second drive has most of the programs on it. To add to the issue drive 0 is a SSD. In the page imaging a computer with a SSD as the primary drive was not possible.   I'm running MDt 2013 update 1. I haven't started researching so if someone has some information on how this can be done please let me know

    thanks.

  • YEs, MDT can deploy to a machine with more than one physical disk.

    by default MDT Litetouch New Computer Scenario will deploy to disk 0 (the first disk).

    IF you need to deploy to some other disk: https://keithga.wordpress.com/2013/09/18/ztiselectbootdisk-wsf/

  • I have several deployments that use multiple drives. There have been no issues with Sysprep, specifically, and yes the primary is an SSD. I do not install any programs to the secondary drive, but I do provision the recovery partition there in the sequence. The only thing maybe unclear about my intended outcome is whether the pagefile actually moves over to the secondary drive as intended; I've been using a PowerShell script using wmic pagefileset that appears to have worked when you go into the GUI interface where the settings are changed, but the page file still seems to be in the wrong location. I've been hoping an update along the way settles this, but it's not a showstopper for me.

  • William;

      Thanks for your post. I guess we are going to just try the sysprep and see what the outcome is going to be.

  • Keith;

       I have read you blog on how to deploy to two drives.

    I may have found an answer that will work for me. I will try your suggestion if this other procedure doesn't work.
