Where are they downloaded to RRS feed

  • I need a little help to a simple question

    In Device Manager, when you right click on a device to update its driver, once Windows finds the driver on the Internet where on the local computer is the driver downloaded to before being installed

  • Check %TEMP%. The driver file will wind up installed to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore

  • Windows vista/7/& later really don't use that cmd,xp did..To update pc hardware drivers/software,intel says

    the MB chipset driver is 1st,then MB controllers (storage/networking/etc) 2nd,however the chipset driver

    really controls all with the OS.Video is next,not much else to update if the above are/have latest drivers.

    %Temp%  folder,are old driver installations,used 1 time,cleaning up helps in disk space,but has no

    effect to updates.One can/should run: C:\WINDOWS\Temp also,as it has the same,not all delete as some

    are in use....
