How to Handle Licensing of Applications & How to handle Multi-User Applications with Shared Components like Databases in AppV? RRS feed

    I would like to understand the Following in terms of AppV 5.0,

    Handle Licenses: 

    We are different from a large enterprise in that the applications we have packaged will need to have the end user license information inserted into the packages in some way for each user or user group.

    Multi-User Apps with Shared Components:

    Moat of the apps we use have a database that is needed on a system or computer that handles access to the data for several users.  Example: MS SQL client/server apps.

    Any suggestions on the above will be Highly Appreciated.

    Perhaps 'dynamic configuration', namely the userconfig.xml file seem to be the point of configuration, but what exactly has to be done depends on your actual requirements.

    You can use the usersonfig XMLs to have user/group specific settings. This might be more legal settings (like a remark about a used license number) or technical settings (like specific license files or reg values).

    Starting with HF 4 fr App-V 5 SP2 Microsoft re-introduced the 'Save as new package' feature, that allows you to create branches or variations of a package that you created before.
