Project Custom Field Values and Enterprise Project Type Templates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi -

We are using PS 2013 with SP1 and April CU

A specific client has created several project templates that have pre defined values for project level custom fields.

In addition we created an enterprise project type that is associated with each template.

The problem (as seen in our environment) is that when we create the project via Project Center using the EPT, we are required to enter custom values that should be prepopulated from the project template.

Is there some further configuration required so that the values get populated direct from the assigned template?

    Many thanks...

    Shane

  • Hello Shane,

Do you see values getting populated from template for custom fields after initial save? Please verify.

In my Project Online environment values do get populate for custom fields after initial save. I haven't had chance to check in On-Premise environment :(

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you,

    Kiran K.

  • Shane,

This is by design. The pre-populated fields are not filled in until Saved, when the project are being created from Templates.

One workaround could be to place the fields on a different PDP, than the New project creation form, so that they get populated while the project is being created.
