I had configured outgoing mail on central administration.

I need different outgoing mail account for both site but in Outgoing Email settings there is only one email account for outgooing email whcih is applicable for all the sites.

what can I do to send mail with diff email account on different sites?

  • AS per my knowledge it is not possible to configure multiple outgoing from to addresses in central admin as it is connected to SMTP / exchange server.

SMTP / Exchange server is responsible for mail transfer.

But using Outlook you can send manual email notification using multiple addresses which should be existed in AD.

  • It might be possible using this stsadm command , iam not sure but you can try this

    stsadm -o email -outsmtpserver mail.example.com -fromaddress someone@example.com -replytoaddress someone@example.com -codepage 65001 -url http://web_app_url

  • You can have only one outgoing email address. Custom code can be used to send the mail from differ email address but it has limitation.

Please let us know when(at which event) you want to send the email from SharePoint like when Item addeed, deleted..

  • Moderator Note:

I have deleted several posts in this thread about SP 2010.

This is a pre-2010 forum. There are also 2010 forums.

If anyone wants to ask a question about 2010 they should do so in a 2010 forum not here.

If people see a 2010 question in a pre-2010 forum they should either ignore it or tell the poster of that question that he is off-topic. They should not reply to it. That goes equally for the case where the whole thread is about 2010 and for the case when an attempt is made to ask 2010 questions in a 2007 or 2003 thread.

Thanks for your cooperation with this. Microsoft had their reasons for creating new forums for the SP 2010 product range and we should all follow the division they made.

  • You can achieve this using the event receiver. Write the event receivers and use .Net email functionality to send the email from different email address.

  • Hi,

i agreed with Senthilrajan Kaliyaperumal response. Custom event receiver is the best solution for this. Whenever item is added in list / /library user the ItemAdded event to send the mail from different account.

In the same way, you have to add ItemUpdated event for other site.

Here is some reference link for creating event receiver:

    Hope this will help
