REG Key for AutoConfiguration setting in IE. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I am trying to implement PAC based proxy to some users. I am looking for the Registry key to place the URL in the IE's Browser connection settings. I found this in Google, REGEDIT5
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
    "ProxyServer"="<URL>"
    "ProxyEnable"=dword:00000001
    "ProxyOverride"="<local>"

    This is does not seem work for PAC. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Hi,

    It seems more server related while we mainly focus on IE components here.

    We can have a try:

    Set pac file as local  (file://c:\proxy.pac) to test.

    Tested same pac file on Win7.

    1. Delete Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, History.
    2. Close IE
    3. Backup “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings”
    4. Set “MigrateProxy” value to 0 (“HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings” Migrateproxy)
    5. Delete   All Keys under “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections”
    6. Reboot System
    7. Start Netmon and  Process Monitor
    8. Open IE and try to browse

    Meanwhile, MIME type on IIS server may not be set correctly as "application/x-internet-signup.

    Regards,
