Disable Balloon messages from SteadyState RRS feed

  • Question

  • Steady State show balloon messages in the system tray when you turn on the disk protection and so forth.  I do not want this shown to the users or the users to see any tips to save their data to a usb drive or some other source.

Is there a way to disable this and not show any steady state messages for the accounts that are locked?

    Thanks!

  • I tested 2 ways to eliminate steady state from displaying it's balloon messages near the system time when you have an account set to not allow any changes, or when you have disk protection on to warn you to save your data to a usb.

    1. I found that in the windows steadystate folder under program files, there is a bubble.exe that is used to display the messages.  So I renamed the file ( I guess I could have deleted it too) and no more messages appear.

    2. I added it as a blocked program for the account that I locked out, still allowing for the messages to appear for the admins that can log in, but not bug the locked down account with information messages.

Hope this helps for anyone else.  I just didn't need messages telling the users to save to a usb drive when we have that locked down and not allowed either.
