How to push an image to another computer with MDT? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Please forgive me if this question is very basic, but I am coming into a position where my supervisor wants me to learn about multiple ways to deploy images.

I was able to create my Deployment Share with a Windows 7 x64 image.  Now that I have the deployment share, how do I push the image to different machines?  My lab only has a Windows 7 laptop and a Windows 7 desktop.  Am I missing something required to push the image?

  • Assuming we are talking about a physical box...

...since you do not have a WDS / DHCP server standing by, you would need to create a bootable usb stick, put the content of your boot image (ISO file in the boot folder) onto it and then boot from the USB stick.

Assuming we are talking about a virtual pc...

... in this case simply mount the ISO file and boot the machine.

Feel free to peruse this excellent walkthrough: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/deploy-windows-mdt/get-started-with-the-microsoft-deployment-toolkit

    Cheers,
    Anton

  • Sometimes you need to deploy a Windows OS to a PC or PCs that are not connected to a network, or to a PC that exists on a network where deployment services (PXE/network boot) are not provided. Create MDT Offline Media to Deploy OS. or You can deploy with the help of DeploymentSharePath

Run the LiteTouch.vbs in Destination computer.
