SCCM 1806 PXE without WDS RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm having trouble enabling this awesome feature, can't figure out:

    • Where are the boot files are now stored? there is no RemoteInstall folder.
    • What DHCP options should I use? and how do I configure them if there is no boot folder?

My current setup is a single SCCM server with DP/PXE enabled, WDS is removed, DHCP on different VLANs configured as follow:

    • Option 66: SCCM server IP
    • Option 67: SMSBoot\x64\

Testing boot on a VM gives the error:

    • PXE-T00: Failed to open file.
    • PXE-E36: Error received from TFTP server.

The SMSPXE.log file showing the entries:

    • TFTP: ClientIP: connected.
    • TFTP: ClientIP: not able to open SMSBoot\x86\

All replies

  • You don't need to know where the Boot Files are stored because you don't should not configure any DHCP Options for PXE Boot.

Configure IP Helpers on your Routers for your PXE enabled DPs like you have done (already) for your DHCP Servers.

If you have enabled PXE Boot and DP on a Windows 10 Client you can PXE Boot all Clients in the same subnet without any additional configuration.
