Windows Server 2008 Event ID 1037 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Warning
Group Policy was unable to add per computer connection \1-SRVFXerox WorkCentre 7655 rev2 PCL6 (Copy 1). Error code 0x80070709. This can occur if the name of the printer connection is incorrect, or if the print spooler cannot contact the print server.

I can not figure where this warning is coming coming from. Originally items like 1-SRVFXerox WorkCentre 7655 rev2 PCL6 (Copy 1)  were in the Local Computer Policy Computer configuration and were deleted from that location. However the warning is still occuring so this GP must be someplace else.

  • http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc773843(WS.10).aspx does not have anything to do with the problem. Event ID 1037 is correct because the indeed there is no such printer \1-SRVFXerox WorkCentre 7655 rev2 PCL6 (Copy 1).

The problem is the local group policy that I can not delete. Originally, I found the local group policy using gpedit.msc. I selected delete and the local group policy disappeared from the view of the gpedit.msc. But the local group policies remain and doing gpupdate /force or even rebooting has no effect.

  • Hi,

These is only one Local Group Policy on every computer. Please run RSOP.msc on client and find the name of GPO that contains \\1-SRVF\Xerox WorkCentre 7655 rev2 PCL6 (Copy 1). After that, you can edit the GPO to solve this problem.

    Thanks.

  • The way the RSOP.msc seems to work  is that it show successful GPOs. In this case the GPO is not successful because there is no such thing as printer \1-SRVFXerox WorkCentre 7655 rev2 PCL6 (Copy 1).

The GPOs do show when group policy result query is run and the GPOs are clearly shown as local group policy. The GPOs do show in the settings tab under printer connections (both computer configuration and user configuration.  The GPOs are not seen by gpedit.msc.
