Application Crash when starting a program

Question
-
We are having an issue with an application crashing after we attempt to log in. The program in Church Windows 15.11.1, which is listed as being Windows 7 compatible, and we've stumped their technical support.
Our workstation is a Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit, Intel E5500 2.8GHz with 4GB of memory.
Upon launching, the application checks the SQL Server database (SQL Server 2005), and presents the login window. Upon logging in, the application crashes with an "Executable has stopped working" dialog.

AppPath=C:\CW\Cw.exeIn order to troubleshoot, we have uninstalled and reinstalled Church Windows, with no change. Additionally, we have rebooted with no services or startup program running, again with the same result. I just completed restoring to a Restore Point created before this behavior started, and still receive the above issue. Installing the latest updates, running virus and malware scans, and installing to another location have not met with any more success.
Since this is for a non-profit organization, I really do not want to have to pay for a support incident, although I'm willing to if this cannot be resolved soon. This application has been running without a problem for the last several months, and just began having issues yesterday. Let me know if you need any additional information.

Hi,
May I know what was the Cw.exe program? (C:\CW\Cw.exe) Based on the information you provided, this issue was related to the Cw.exe program.
Pleaee remove the related program and check this issue again.
Here is an article can be referred to.

The value of the exception code indicates an access violation: it looks like the program is trying to access to a forbidden memory location.
What are you trying to do? What program does the CW.EXE file belong to?Bye.

Have you considered running ProcMon to see exactly what function the app is trying to call. It might be a case you are getting access denied on a specific file or folder or reg..

Did you ever receive/get a fix for this? We are experiencing the same error on our Vista workstation. I'd love to hear from you. You can send a direct email to mroyalATroyalones.comWednesday, October 3, 2012 3:03 AM

Not as such. We ended up wiping the Win 7 Pro machine and reinstalling everything (Windows, Office, SQL Server, Church Windows, etc), and it hasn't happened again. Yet.
Their tech support did have us change all of our workstation users to local administrators, and ran several backup/repair/restore cycles as part of the troubleshooting process. I don't think it had any effect, but its something to try if you get into the same issue. We were running fine under Vista 32-bit, so I'm not sure if its a Windows 7 issue or a 64-bit issue, or if we just hit the lottery for problems with this install...
