The activation period has expired? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I tried to recover from a virus that Windows 7 and McAfee failed to detect by reinstalling Windows System 7. The reason I did this was that earlier I had been told that if I upgraded from XP to System 7 a previous virus would be removed. That worked the first time. Sure enough, the second installation of Windows System 7 removed the second virus as far as I can tell.

Now I see the following message in the lower right had corner of the screen:

Windows 7 - Build 7600 - This copy of Windows is not genuine

Each time I reboot Windows 7 I get the following message:

Windows Activation - Activate Windows now - The activation period has expired => Activate now => Ask me later - Cancel - 0XC004F009

Can something be done about this so that Windows 7 is kept up to date and considered legal?
