Windows movie maker for windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm having trouble with WMM. I need to edit a video for my college course and every time i try and import the video i get an error message saying "Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'CSCD'"

The file is in the .avi format and was recorded using the program camstudio . The video was recored in my college which is runing Windows XP. I have no problems with this program in my college but at home its a different story.

no matter how many codecs i try i just keep getting the same error message

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate edition 32 bit

  • Hi Jamie,

First, please let us know some questions.

Are you using the Windows Movie Maker or Windows Live Movie Maker, or Windows DVD Maker?
How do you get the Windows Movie Maker in Windows 7?
Can you play the videos in the Play installed in the CamStudio?

As the videos are recored in XP, in my opinion, it's better to test if you can import the videos which is recorded in the CamStudio in Win7 first. As I don't have the trouble in importing videos which is created in CamStudio in my Win7 Ultimate. If you have trouble in importing new recorded videos either, it's better to install the new CamStudio Codec 1.4, or the Shark0007 codec first.

    Hope this helps.
