SCSM 2010 - AD Connector when using select objects RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to setup the AD Connector so that only the relevant group who will use SCSM are listed, and not the enitre organization.

I have chosen the "Select individual computers, printers, users, or user groups, and individually picked out the items I require and everything appears to be ok. Once I create an incident and try to select from the list, I see much more data then is desired such as all of the standard Active directory groups and I have double checked that none of these groups are in my selected list.

Is this a known bug with AD Connector, or is their something else that is required?

  • Hi, Do you have another AD Connector too? Or did you run this connector with other settings before? Have you read this post about how the connector works? http://contoso.se/blog/?p=1504

  • I initially was doing the entire domain objects selection, and we are trying today to reduce the scope of objects listed. Therefore I have deleted the initial connector and created a brand new one with the settings I would like to have.

Based on the Contoso link, I am not quite following exactly how that directly relates, but it brings me to the idea that since I have been creating many incidents and changes before making this change today, that perhaps there are so called artifacts in the CMDB related to items which were part of the full AD listing before and now that I have removed that view, SCSM will continue to show those items until say the incidents are deleted possibly?

It almost sounds like it would be better to start with a few objects and build as removing objects, will never truly remove them from the view?
