Microfsoft snetcfg issue with Windows XP Pro 64bits - 0x800f0203 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I'm having an issue with Windows XP Pro 64bits SP1 trying to use "snetcfg" tool.

    I want to enable "File and Printer sharing for Microsoft Networks". So I've done a script I would like to use on all those computers.
    All my computers have (almost) the same hardware with WinXP Pro SP1 32bits OS or WinXP Pro SP1 64bits.

    To enable the FPS option, I'm using snetcfg to uninstall then reinstall MS_Server service.
    On 32bits os, it works fine, but on 64bits os I've got an error message

    Sample Code to uninstall then reinstall MS_Server to enable FPS :
    =============
    snetcfg.exe -v -u MS_Server
    snetcfg.exe -v -l %windir%\Inf\NETSERV.INF -c s -i MS_Server
    (or snetcfg.exe -v -l NETSERV.INF -c s -i MS_Server)

    Execution log :
    ==========
    Trying to install 'MS_Srver'
    ...netserv.inf was copied to c:\windows\inf\netserv.inf
    ...failed. Error code: 0x800f0203

    Can you please help ?
