PWA Home Page Task Count Incorrect RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are seeing an incorrect (abnormal) count of assigned tasks (800+) on the PWA Home Page. After clicking on the tasks, all the tasks/projects seem valid. We have seen cases where a Microsoft Project file contains tasks that are 100% complete, but do not update in the Project Server. Any pointers on what we should be looking for?

    Environment: SharePoint 2010/Project Server 2010/Project Professional 2010

  • Removing the resource name from the completed tasks and republishing the project file dropped the task count. It just seems odd that the completed tasks would also be included in the overall new task count.

  • Hello, What patch level is your farm. It could be related to an issue that was fixed in the October 2011 CU: http://pwmather.wordpress.com/2011/09/13/projectserver-2010-reminders-web-part-displays-new-task-assignments-but-the-tasks-page-doesnt-show-any-tasks-ps2010-msproject/ Paul

  • Hello Chetan,

Are you approving the tasks, updating the schedules and publishing the update projects?  The publishing process syncs the project pro schedule with the PWA schedules.

    Cheers!

  • Paul,

    These are the updates:

    a) Project Server 2010 - SP1 (14.0.6029.100)

    b) Project Server Front End has a applied hotfix KB2596956 (14.0.6131.5000), so that's the December 2012 CU.

*Good point though about the generic resources.

  • To the best of my knowledge, the person having the issue is doing all the approvals and publishing from Project Professional. Could approvals be affecting the "new tasks assigned count" in any way? We suspect the "completed" tasks don't get updated to the Project Server during the sync, not really sure how we can confirm.
