  • Hi All.

I went to Upgrade from exchange 2010 sp3 running on windows 2008 r2 to exchange 2013 running on windows 2012.

    I have the following servers:

    1- 2 server running windows 2008 r2 with exchange 2010 sp3 with HUB - CAS role.

    2- 2 server running windows 2008 r2 with exchange 2010 sp3 with MBX role.

    3- 2 server running windows 2008 r2 with exchange 2010 sp3 with Edg role.

    4- storage holding mailbox databases.

what is the best scenario and the upgrade step by step ?

  • Hello,

Microsoft supports only side-by-side migrations of Exchange servers so you need to install new servers with Windows 2012 and Exchange 2013. Then you need to migrate all your resources from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013. After that you will be able to decommission old servers.

Look at Exchange Server Deployment Assistant for step-by-step guide: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/exdeploy2013/Checklist?state=2419-W-AAAAAAAAQAAAAAEAAAAAAAA~.

    Hope it helps,

    Adam
