Skype for Business not performing a proper sync with Outlook/Exchange RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a SFB 2016 On-Premise and Office 365 (in our environment. I recently updated the phone contact information for one of the staff through the Active Directory user properties. In the AD it shows that it was updated. I also checked the Outlook Address Book and it shows that it was also updated. I checked through Skype for Business but it still shows the previous contact number as the information. I checked the SFB Tools\Options\Personal and I can see that it was all ticked.

    Please advise. Thank you

  • Hi EVM06,

According to your description, in your environment, the Skype for Business Server is ON Premise. As you know, the Skype for Business address book is not sync at moment. By default, every 60s the data will sync from AD to SQL, every 1:30 am the data will sync from SQL to Skype for Business file share, then 0-60min, the Skype for Business client will update the data. If the time is not meet, this is normal.

In addition, you could try to update the data manual. In the FE Server, run the following cmdlet to update data from AD to SQL: Update-CsUserDatabase, then run Update-CsAddressBook to update data from SQL to file share. In the user’s PC, set GalDownloadInitialDelay registry key to 0, and delete the file GalContacts.db and GalContacts.db.idx. Then log in the Skype for Business client to check whether the information sync.
