Windows 7 Update - error code 80070424 RRS feed

  • I tried everything from this forum but nothing worked. ( the product key showing on the diagnostic is different from the one that i have ) I keep getting messages that My Windows 7 is not Genuine, I have a Toshiba Satelite 64bit.

    Regarding the Windows Update error 80070424, please try the followings:


    1. Perform the steps in this article Windows Update error 80070424

    2. Manually stop and restart Windows Modules Installer service

    3. If this service failed to start, run System File Checker tool to repair system files.



    Regarding the WGA error, please check whether the key and version of Windows 7 match the COA tag at the bottom of the computer.


    You may refer to the following link to find COA.

    If the keys are different, you can try the following steps to change it.


    1. Right-click on the Computer desktop shortcut and go to Properties.

    2. At the bottom of the window, click on Change Product key.

    3. Enter your product key in the format XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX and press Enter.

    Gerry is  correct (how unusual! <eg>, Hi, Gerry),  the symptom is typical of the use of registry cleaners - specifically WiseFixer.
     
    Please revert all changes made recently by such programs, then uninstall them.
    Then you should post another MGADiag report, before attempting the repair in the thread Gerry pointed you at.
