DPM was unable to determine the right node for backing up the Availability Group database and hence failed the backup. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

I am trying to tell DPM to do the backup on a less busy server, I tried to set the backup priority to 75 on server C, other servers remain on 50, but DPM returned "DPM was unable to determine the right node for backing up the Availability Group database and hence failed the backup."

I also tried tick "Exclude Replica" for the other Servers, only C is unticked, still got same error.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Albert

  • Server A and B are in sync mode, Server C is in async mode.

As primary databases are on Server A and B, I prefer to run backup on C.

In current setting, same priority, "Prefer secondary","Exclude Replica" all unticked. DPM will choose the secondary replica which is in sync mode.

Once done the change in AlwaysOn, need to remove the object from DPM and readd them from scratch to pick up the change...
