Maximum number of WAN miniports Windows 2008 Standard Server RRAS RRS feed

  • Question

  • When trying to increase the number of WAN Miniports to any number greater than 250, I receive the error "The number of available ports must be between 0 and 250".  This message occurs when trying to increase any of the port types (PPTP, L2TP, SSTP).  According to this technet article, at least 1000 connections should be supported.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks!

  • Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition is limted to 250 connections. The article you’re looking at is specific to Windows Server 2003, which had a higher limit in that feature. If you need more connections, then you have to use Enterprise Editition instead of Standard.
