Sharepoint 2010 - CA --> Manage Account --> Change Password Now RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am trying to change the password for a managed account in Central Admin, Managed Account.

I select 'Change password now' & then 'set account password to new value'

I enter a password & click OK, it chugs away for 10 - 15 seconds & then displays the following error:

"Configuration information could not be read from the domain controller, either because the machine is unavailable, or access has been denied"

Sharepoint is in its own domain & the AD accounts are in a seperate domain with a trust relationship setup.

    Any ideas ?

    Cheers.

  • If I use  Set-SPManagedAccount -Identity "domain\serviceAccount" -UseExistingPassword , it works. but if I use:

    $password = Read-Host -AsSecureString

    Set-SPManagedAccount -Identity "domain\serviceAccount" -NewPassword $password

I get following error:  Set-SPManagedAccount : Cannot bind parameter 'Password'. Cannot convert the
"xxxxxxx" value of type "System.String" to type "System.Security.SecureString"  If CA with UI I cannot select use existing password or generate new password or set account password to new value. I get always the same error: "Configuration information could not be read from the domain controller, either because the machine is unavailable, or access has been denied". Is it a permission issue?

  • I just find the resolution https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2711528

My problem is if I enable the automatic password change again this error come back. :-(
