Specifying SMTP port in Task Scheduler email notification settings RRS feed

  • Question

  • In Task Scheduler it is possible to send an email in response to an event. To keep track of laptops, I want to send email when the DHCP lease changes. This would be simple, except that nowadays many ISPs block port 25 and I need to send on port 587 instead. Email clients like Thunderbird allow this along with various TLS/authentication settings. I don't need to authenticate since the mail is delivered directly, not relayed offsite, and I don't want to rely on the user having set up builtin email to use an ISP's server (for that matter, at hotspots etc. there probably isn't one).

Is there some recipe to specify the port in Task Scheduler ? I tried a few like
    smtp.example.com:587 but no luck.
