Why system idle process has appeared? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have found system idle process in task manager at details tab. I have found that it is indicating unused percentage of CPU time. I am 100 % sure that the process there has not been from installation of Windows 10 during first wave of upgrading.

I have found also some explanation that the system idle process is task manager itself but I am sure that there never be system idle process in detail tab till now.

Why it is suddenly appeared? Does it indicating something? Can I get rid of it somehow?

  • The System Idle Process has been part of Windows since Windows NT in the 1990's. Previous Windows versions (Windows 7 I checked) could be made to show only processes for the current user and hence System Idle would not be shown.

Windows 10 has always shown System Idle Process afaik and can see no way to remove it.

System Idle Process wiki page has some information on what the System  Idle Process does and why Windows uses it.
