reinstall of XP on HP a1520n computer... RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had a bug in my 7 year old HP a1520n XP computer.  Performing a reset of the OS via F10 at start up did not do the trick.  I could not find my original disks.  I got a copy of XP from a friend.  I installed and how do I continue to enjoy the status of an 'original' XP OS user when the copy I used to reinstall was not the original?  I am not getting notices from MS that the OS is not authenticated?  any thoughts?

  • You have two options: contact HP and ask for a set of disks or buy a new Retail license.

  • Look for the License key sticker on Cabinet if the OS came bundled with HP, try entring it and activate the license. if not contact HP support with your computer serial number
