CMD Prompt pops up when I hit desktop then immediately closes. RRS feed

  • Question

  • For a while now I've been getting a cmd prompt popping up after I hit desktop that immediately closes. I can't tell if there was any text in it, and can't find a way to figure out if there was any. I tried one-by-one disabling services and startup programs but I can't pin down a culprit. It happens most of the time, but not all of the time. It has happened with everything disabled, but not in safe mode (albeit I only tried safe mode boot once). At first I thought perhaps it was something bad on my computer, but MSE + Malwarebytes both show my PC as clean.

Anybody have any idea what this is?

  • Hi,

Firstly, please let us know whether the issue occurs when you right click Desktop or left click Desktop.

Meanwhile, if the issue did not occur previously, you can try to perform a system restore and see how it works.

Also, you can test the issue in Clean Boot Mode.

If issue persists, you can try to use process monitor to narrow down the issue.

    Hope this helps.
