System Center Management Pack for Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 DHCP RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi Folks

i have installed the DHCP-Management-Pack on SCOM2012R2 to Monitor our DHCP2012R2-Servers.

During the Import of the MP-Files i realized, that i have to Import the DHCP2012-MP-File too, because of dependencies in the DHCP2012R2-MP-File.

i think this is a bug? or is the DHCP2012-MP-File really needed, although i just want to Monitor only DHCP2012R2?

Workaround -> manually override the discovery-rules for the dhcp2012-part? (unsealing the mp file and deleting the dependency is not Supported and i dont know, if the mp afterwards works properly)

  • Hello,

As far as I know, some other management packs are also designed like this, new version refers to old version, like AD managment pack.

If you do not want to monitor DHCP 2012, you can disable discovery for DHCP 2012.

I suggest do not deleting the dependency, it seems like that there are some definitions in DHCP 2012 also used in DHCP 2012 R2

  • i wrote an E-Mail to the mp-Team (reference in the MP-guide) and they confirmed me to disable the discovery-Tasks for the server2012-class.

they have noticed this behaviour and maybe in a future, updated Version we may choose to Import only DHCP2012R2 ;-)
