SCCM Upgrade to 1511 Forest AD Level = 2003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are on SCCM R2 SP1 CU2.

Our functional AD level is 2003.

Can we upgrade to 1511 without upgrading our Functional AD Level ?

  • Here is the official support statement:

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/library/mt617258.aspx

Based on that, you need to be at 2008 R2 or higher. . .

  • Thank you for the fast answer.

This means we have to wait for our AD Administrator to do the upgrade of AD

  • Yes. Domain level has to be raised first.

  • Do note that I don't think you'll have any actual issues -- in fact, I highly doubt that you will/would. The point though is that Windows Server 2003 is beyond its end of life and is thus *not* a supported product anymore and its time to join the modern Microsoft world.

  • That's what I suspected and now it's confirmed.

    Thank you
