DPM Agent can't enumerate SQL instance. RRS feed

  • Question

  • When trying to add a SQL server to a new Protection Group I am receiving a warning stating that...

"DPM us unable to enumerate \\FQDN\InstanceName on computer FQDN (ID: 3055)"

Despite this, if I close the warning I can then expand the instance in the Select Group Members screen and see all of the databases.

Any ideas as to what is going on?  DPMRA is running on the server as is the VSS writer.  None of the writers report any issues with vssadmin.

  • What is the version of the SQL that you are trying to protect?

Check the following KB to see if you have what is required in your SQL to be protected by DPM 2010.

    Hope that help,

  • Hello,

Its the SQL writers that enumerate the SQL instances to the DPM server.
If the writers during this time are not giving an error then it may be something else.
I have see that error thrown if automount is not enabled.  Probably not the cause but worth checking anyway.

On the DPM server do the following:

a.) Open up a cmd prompt and type "diskpart"
b.) Then type "automount" does the output show automount being disabled or enabled?
