When is the January preview coming out? RRS feed

  • Question

  • It was rumored that a new Technical Preview (or Consumer Preview) build would be released on January 21st, after the live event. But now, in the end of the 22nd, we still don't have a build uploaded for download. Could we please get more details?

I know you're working hard and I really appreciate that you put your work out for the public, and I'm not complaining about it, but I think (and many other testers do, I believe) that you should at least set an approximate time of release. You know, "it will be there *soon*" is not enough :)

Said by whom and where? The only official announcement I've seen was what
was said during the live stream event and that was "in the next week".

I heard that Microsoft will release a new build of Windows 10 soon for testing.

Yes, at the Windows 10 unveiling at Microsoft's Redmond Campus in Washington, the company notified the press that a new revised Preview build of Windows 10 will become available for download within the week of January 26th 2015.

The Wiki page this was taken from was created by an MVP and not an official
spokesperson from Microsoft. There are a number of errors on that page
already, as well as statements presented as facts that have not actually
    been announced yet.

As far as the statement you made about the new build being released on the
26th, that is most definitely not the same thing as what is stated on the
Wiki page which is that the new build will be released within the week of
    January 26th 2015
. That statement isn't even accurate. What was stated
during the live stream was that a new build would be made available "in the
next week". That could mean anywhere from yesterday through to January 28th
or even the 30th if one assumes they aren't counting weekend days, assuming
of course that the statement was meant to be taken literally.

  • I regard that forum as a reliable and competent source of information.

You can scrutinize it anyway you want. Only one week to show which is correct.

Even if that is how you view it (and it really isn't, I simply don't have the time or inclination to point out the errors right now) your statement that the new build will be available on the 26th is not the same as the statement in the Wiki that you cite as your source which states it will be available during the week of the 26th. Those two statements are completely different.

Just trying to keep things accurate here.

  • You call it :keeping things accurate", I call it splitting hair with words.

Good. I don't have time either.
