Win-Service effects other instances. Event ID 7034: Service Terminated RRS feed

  • Question

  • If more than one "xxx" service is installed on one machine as win service, it is possible that they can effect each other. If one is stopped the other one will stop as well. This does not happen every time, but after some tests it will happen.

  • Hello everybody,
the error was found with a high probability.
It was not clear that these events are available across processes by default (it was incorrectly assumed that these are only known in-process). For internal event control, it simply defined events with the names "stop '," shutdown "etc. and used them in the process, but since these are also passed on to other processes, these events cannot be used for pure control within a process .
The respective process ID was now simply added to the event IDs in order to make these events unique for each process. A test with a special test service showed the desired result.

  • Hi,

This is a good and valid question; however, it truly has nothing to do with  Service Manager and is best posted in a Windows forum instead of a Service Manager forum.
