    I want to display the last published date on a page created through a custom page layout .

    Have tried using all the available fields in the Content type fields (modified date, created date etc) but these display date control in an editable mode. We want the last published date to be displayed on each page whenever it was last published.

    Any suggestions on how do this? Response is appreciated.

    I dont think , there is such a field called Last Published date.

    Have you turned on item scheduling.  If Item scheduling option is turned on, it would add 2 fields. Schedule start date and end date.   You can specify these fields in the page layout. 

    However, if you say publish now. Schedule Start date would be empty, hence you would not see any value.
