Windows 10 Upgrade issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • Here is a scenario, i set up Windows 10 upgrade in SCCm, using an ISO for win 10 enterprise that I extracted in the media folder. I imported the task sequence with the Windows 10 upgrade and distributed the two packages for media and scripts.

I deploy to a test machine that has win 7 enterprise, the upgrade worked fine, except now on two machines it gets stuck at 100% for software updates and I need to hard reboot and then windows 10 fires up with no issues. I am not sure what has happened recently if Microsoft has bad updates being poured from within. I was debating about disabling the software updates.

Next problem of course is with Office 2013. That gets deactivated after Windows 10 upgrade.  From what I read and tried manually if you copy C:\Windows.old\WINDOWS\System32\SMI\store\machine  to C:\Windows\System32\SMI\store\machine this will activate windows, but i want this to happen before the upgrade. So I added a command line under Post-Processing in the task sequence editor, but it doesn't seem to take effect. I am using the robocopy command.

Any advice to get pass the software updates being stuck at 100% for hours, one machine it was over night and what steps can I do to get office 2013 activated so users aren't prompted for admin rights or need a key?

    My task sequence is below

  • I love how no one else thinks they're having this issue, but just wait you will.  So how i got around this, i made a seperate package for Office 2013.  I deployed windows 10 in sccm   i used a repair command for office and added the activation key so users launch that install from software center after Windows 10 upgrade and they do not get any admin prompts.  In technet it says use silentrepairconfig.xml it does not work you need to use just config.xml  also i uncheck the software updates
