Restoring SQl to different version of SQL RRS feed

  • Question

  • This is probably a crazy question, but as I know very little about SQL (Just enough to be dangerous) I need to learn more ;-) Is it possible to restore a SQL db to a later version of SQL using DPM, I.E. use DPM to do the "upgrade"? I.e. back up the DB on a sql 2000 server and restore it to a sql 2005 server? TX

  • Hi

If you got a SQL 2005 and "move/migrate" the databases to a new SQL 2008R2 server it's possible, all you need to do is to install an agent on the new SQL server and then do a restore.
