Application Request Workflow and Notification

Question

Hi,
I'm looking at putting in SCCM 2012 with application request/approval but AFAIK there is no email notification for when an application is requested.
To start with, it would be great if each request could send an email eg. helpdesk@company.com and then we can generate a SR in the helpdesk system. Ideally the solution could list the approvers for the application, then a request would email the approvers with an approval link, when all approved then install.
I'm aware of the Application Approval Workflow (AAW) Solution Accelerator but the company has another helpdesk ticket system so that's a no go.
I've seen a few other posts for the same request but the response was either the AAW Solution Accelerator or didn't get an answer.
Cheers!

Thanks this seems like its going down the right track (the number of issues reported are abit scary for production tho). This company would be happier to pay for a supported product if it did what we want.
At this stage, I'd be happy with just a simple email sent to helpdesk@company.com or the application "owners" value in SCCM instead of it doing an LDAP lookup for managers attribute. Any way to customize it? I think for the full solution we want, it would require a developer as our application request can have multiple approvers (licensing, system account creation and app owner ect).
In smaller shops the built-in app request/approval in SCCM would work but in reality it's not ITIL compliant for tracking SLA's ect, the ability to email each request would solve this and what every shop would love.

You can create your own solution using the CM12 SDK: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh948847.aspx
