We receive a lot of these alerts in SCOM 2012 SP1
Shared Printer Availability Alert (Windows Server 2008 R2)
Anyone has a best practice for when this alert should be generated.

I would track down the biggest offenders here and disable the monitoring if its adding no value.

as this is event id rule if you want to eliminate alerts created due to printer reboot or network issue, you can disable the rule in Mp by creating override and recreate same event rule with consolidation condition, so that you get alerts if printer is not available online for some time.
