SMTP domain and AD domain served by external server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Let's have this situation:

    • installed Exchange 2010 SP2 in domain.tld (AD domain is same as internet domain)
    • added new accepted domain abc.domain.tld and set to default
    • mail for domain.tld  is served by other (non Exchange) mail server

In this scenario, is it possible to set up Exchange to send and receive mail for abc.domain.tld and yet be able to receive and send mail from/to domain.tld?

  • hi,

    Yes,you can.

You can receive and send mail for abc.domain.tld,because it is your default accepted domain. But if you want to receive and send mail to/form internet, you should do some settings, such as MX record,A record, create connectors and so on.

If you need receive and send mail from/to domain.tld.You should create a accepted domain which type is relay.Create connector to allow the domain.tld send and receive mial. You also should do some settings on the non-exchange server.

    you can see this link:

It will help you better understand the accepted domains.

    Hope can help you.
