How to create DNS zone for External DNS RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have googled/binged my question but cannot find an answer. Perhaps my search terms are jacked up....who knows.

Anyhow, I am supporting 2 companies that are co-located, CompA and CompB is what we will call them. How can I add a DNS zone on CompA for CompB then vice versa?

I have tried creating a secondary zone but I do not think it was updating correctly because it wasn't pulling in all the DNS entries.

CompA is setup with Azure VMs and On-Prem machines.

CompB is only Azure currently but I am trying to get an On-Prem DC built.

  • Hello Blacksuit1,

Creating a secondary zone is a right way.

but I do not think it was updating correctly because it wasn't pulling in all the DNS entries

Right click on your secondary zone and you will see two options: Transfer from Master and Transfer new copy of zone from Master. Both of these options can help you update your records.

Transfer from Master: update the zone data with changes from the master server.

Transfer new copy of zone from Master: transfer a full copy of the zone data from the master server (not only the changes).

    Best Regards,

    Leon

  • Sorry for the delay, I was sick last week. However, I believe this resolved my issue because I can see the DNS entries on Domain B from Domain A.

    Thanks!
