SCOM 2012 R2 / Installing DPM 2012 R2 Central Console RRS feed

  • Question

  • Environment: SCOM 2012 R2 and DPM 2012 R2

Installing the DPM Maintenance Package on SCOM

    1. Downloaded the most recent Data Protection Manager SCOM Management Package from Microsoft
    2. Imported the System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager Package without issue to the SCOM 2012 R2 Server.
    3. Began INSTALLATION OF DPM CENTRAL CONSOLE to the SCOM 2012 R2 Server First Pre-Requisite of C++ Libraries met with no issue Then I received Error of not having the correct and required DPM Management packs imported to the SCOM Maintenance Packages and it stated to remove the currently installed DPM Management Pack and to install the following MP’s.
      a) Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataProtectionManager.2012.Discovery.mp
      b) Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataProtectionManager.2012.Library.mp.
    4. Removed the previously installed System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager Package from the SCOM Maintenance Packages as instructed.
    5. Attempted to import the Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataProtectionManager.2012.Discovery.mp and Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataProtectionManager.2012.Library.mp from the CD/DVD_ Drive to the SCOM Maintenance Packages as instructed but received error stating " The Management Pack could not be imported. Cannot load the management pack from the specified sealed assembly file D:\SCDPM\ManagementPacks\en-US\<name of management pack>. This assembly is not fully signed. Cannot verify the strong name signature of the file D:\SCDPM\ManagementPacks\en-US\<name of management pack>."

I have searched TechNet, forums, and other Websites in an attempt to resolve the issue or find the files in question and to re-download the necessary mp files to obtain a good signed copy of them but to no avail. I have also read many forum entries for similar issues where Management Packs could not be imported into SCOM due to verification of the strong name but was unsuccessful in finding an instance where this issue was actually resolved or provided a resolution...

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...

    John

  • This pack does not work. It was tried before but the DPM Central Console installation gave the following error

"not have the correct and required DPM Management packs imported to the SCOM Maintenance Packages and it stated to remove the currently installed DPM Management Pack and to install the following MP’s.
    a) Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataProtectionManager.2012.Discovery.mp
    b) Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataProtectionManager.2012.Library.mp"

  • Hello,

According to the error message, it seems like that you have DPM Management Pack imported, would you please find them and remove them first.  And then try to re-import the needed MPs.

    Yan Li
